Terms of Service

1. The service and these terms

WikiMonitor is a monitoring and explanation service for English Wikipedia pages, owned and operated by The Discoverability Company, 224 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102 (“WikiMonitor,” “we,” “us”). By subscribing or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy.

The service detects events on pages you designate and delivers email alerts containing public revision information, before-and-after text, severity ratings, and machine-generated plain-English summaries. The service does not edit Wikipedia pages, revert changes, contact editors, identify any editor’s real-world identity, remove content, or provide reputation-management or legal advice. We make no guarantee of any Wikipedia outcome.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You provide an accurate email address and are responsible for keeping it current. There are no passwords: sign-in uses single-use, expiring email links sent to your address. You are responsible for access to your email account and for all activity under your subscription.

3. Subscriptions, billing, and renewal

• Single Page: $99 per year — 1 monitored page, up to 2 recipients per page.
• Four Pages: $299 per year — up to 4 monitored pages, up to 4 recipients per page.
• Enterprise: custom terms agreed separately in writing.

Plans are billed annually in advance. Your subscription renews automatically each year on the renewal date unless you cancel beforehand. Cancelling stops the next renewal; monitoring remains active through the end of the term you have paid. Page and recipient allowances are enforced per subscription and are not transferable between subscriptions.

4. Payment; no refunds

Payments are processed by our payment processor; we never store your full card details. Statement descriptors reference WIKIMONITOR. All payments are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. See the Refund Policy for details on cancellation, renewals, and your statutory rights, if any.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the service lawfully and as described in the Acceptable Use Policy — including limits on resale, automated scraping of the service, and any attempt to use alerts to harass, dox, or harm Wikipedia editors. We may suspend or terminate subscriptions that violate it.

6. Wikipedia content and data

Wikipedia text and revision histories are made available by the Wikimedia community under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License and, where applicable, the GNU Free Documentation License. Alerts reproduce excerpts of that public data for your convenience; the canonical record always lives on Wikipedia. Nothing in these terms transfers any Wikipedia content ownership to you.

7. Machine-generated summaries

Plain-English summaries, severity ratings, and semantic-impact notes are generated automatically from public edit data. They can be wrong, incomplete, or miss nuance. They are informational only — not legal, PR, or professional advice — and the public revision link in every alert is the authoritative record.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that detection will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free, that Wikipedia’s public infrastructure will be available, or that alerts will always classify severity as you would.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WikiMonitor and The Discoverability Company will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill, or data — even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for all claims arising from the service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in that case these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WikiMonitor and The Discoverability Company from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the service in violation of these Terms or of applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel renewal at any time. We may suspend or terminate the service for violations of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or for nonpayment. On termination we stop monitoring and alerts; sections 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from the service, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced by email to account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
