Sample alert

This is what lands in your inbox.

A fictional example showing every element of a WikiMonitor alert. This one is a CRITICAL: an unsourced negative claim added to a company page’s lead section.

Critical Meridian Robotics en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meridian_Robotics 2026-08-25 14:32:07 UTC

What changed. An anonymous editor added an unsourced negative claim to the opening section of the page — a sentence alleging pending lawsuits over “defective products.” The claim has no citation. Unsourced negative content in a lead section is the kind of change Wikipedia volunteer editors are expected to remove quickly — but it can also sit on the page for hours or days.

Uncertainty: WikiMonitor cannot verify whether the added claim is true, and it does not edit pages or contact editors. If the claim is false or unsourced, Wikipedia’s own policies are the fastest path to its removal; see our vandalism guide for the manual steps.

Meridian Robotics is a fictional company created for this example; no real page or person is shown.

Reading the alert

The severity label exists so triage takes one glance. This example is CRITICAL because unsourced negative content was inserted into the most-read section of the page. A reformatting edit would arrive as ROUTINE, with the same evidence attached.

The plain-English summary is generated from the actual change, not the page as a whole — it explains what this specific edit did and why the severity was assigned.

The diff is the exact public record: red lines were removed, green lines were added, gray lines are unchanged context. It links to Wikipedia’s own revision page so you can verify everything yourself.

The editor line repeats what Wikipedia displays publicly: here, an anonymous IP editor. WikiMonitor never claims to know who an editor “really” is — see who edited my Wikipedia page? for what can and cannot be known.

The uncertainty note matters as much as the summary. If the analysis is unsure whether a change is negative, it says so. You get calibrated judgment, not false alarms.
